In order to cope with growing demands of their business, Wickes required a p670 to LPAR and then to migrate environments off their aging SP systems. This was to be their second p670. The first had been sourced through IBM and although Covenco has upgraded this first machine, we were then chosen to supply the complete second p670. This was a price and speed based decision. We supplied the system and commissioned it with ten days. Covenco completed the project on time, first time and the equipment was accepted by IBM for maintenance cover.
Our relationship with Wickes has been established over seven years. We first supplied a rental AS/400 for the Wickes Y2K compliance tests in 1999. Subsequently we have supplied numerous upgrades to their SP, p670 and storage systems, including SSA disk and cards, ESS eight packs, a complete 3494 library, 3590 drives and an iSeries 810.
