Direct Attached Storage (DAS) still represents the majority of the installed storage. A direct attached storage device is any disk subsystem or tape that is attached to only one host, either over SCSI, Fibre or otherwise.
Direct Attached Storage has been the I.T. standard for decades and is quick and reliable but has a high TCO and lacks the flexibility of a Storage Network.
